Today we'll read, and then we'll cover 4.6-4.7 of Hamlet together. This will take us to the end of Act 4 and leave us only 2 scenes in the play to go!
As you read 4.7 in your groups, complete the guided reading questions as you go. Today we'll start with our reading time. Then we'll get into Hamlet by viewing 4.4 and reading 4.5 in smaller groups. Roles for 4.5 include Ophelia, Gertrude, Claudius, Laertes, Gentlemen, Messenger, Horatio.

Today after reading we'll work in our groups to complete a quick review activity. You will need to visually depict Hamlet's changing mental and emotional state over the course of Acts 1 to 3. Use your notes and skim through the text to be sure you are depicting it accurately!
Next we'll start reading Act 4. Note the tempo shift as we get begin. Why do you think Shakespeare does this? We will also highlight a conceit today--the sponge analogy Hamlet uses in 4.2. Today we will start with the 20-point quiz over Acts 1-3. When you finish, please place it in the basket under the TV. Then you will be able to use the rest of the hour to finish the PPC in My AP Classroom. You will be getting a grade for this, so be sure to complete it.
Have a wonderful weekend! Today we'll finish our self-evaluation activity from yesterday. As soon as you finish, go ahead and grab our book to get your reading in. When everyone is done we will spend a little time checking out other people's essays. I will collect them when we're done.

In this soliloquy in Act 3, Scene 3 of Hamlet, Claudius reflects on his crime of murdering his brother, the former king. In a well-organized essay, analyze how Shakespeare uses literary devices to characterize Claudius and capture his situation. At the end of the hour, we'll have time for our reading. Today we'll start with our reading. Then we'll get into our groups and review Act 3, paying special attention to our own assigned characters. Your group will add to your wall character and share your work with the class.
Next we will go over our essay outlines from next week along with some really good examples from your classmates. You may wish to take notes in order to help you with tomorrow's essay. With the time we have left, you can prepare for the essay by analyzing Claudius' soliloquy. Here is a list of terms to consider:
